Japan is very much a cash based society so we do suggest that you arrive with some Japanese Yen in hand. Having said that, there are more and more locations that will accept credit cards. You can get cash out from any 7/11 store or Japan Post when in Japan.

It does depend on the resort as some resorts do allow it while at others it is strictly forbidden. Due to the amount of snow that Japan receives in a season, avalanches and tree wells are very common. Please always check with the resort and always ski in areas that have been designated as safe.

You don’t need a visa to travel to Japan for up to 90 days. Entry and exit conditions can change at short notice. You should contact the nearest embassy or consulate of Japan for the latest details.

Japan uses lower voltage than Australia and Europe. You will need to bring an adaptor with you or they are available readily in Japan.

Winter temperatures on Honshu in the Nagano and Niigata Resort areas are known to have a temperature variance of approximately -10 through to +5 degrees Celsius.  Japan is known for heavy snowfalls and with that comes cold temperatures.
